    What Lampard told Rondon

Salomon Rondon has revealed what Everton boss Frank Lampard told him ahead of his brace in the FA Cup against Boreham Wood.

Rondon told Everton TV: "I try to score every time I can play. It is special to score at Goodison Park.

"The manager has just told me to keep training and doing my best every training session.

"When you get a chance, you have to take it. I did that and I'm really happy. I just have to try my best to help the team and score goals – I have to keep going."

    Burnley vs Southampton rescheduled

Burnley have confirmed that their Premier League game against Southampton has been rescheduled due to a fixture clash with the FA Cup.

Burnley were meant to take on Southampton on March 19, but the Saints have been drawn to play Man City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on the same day.

The Prem clash will now have to be rescheduled at a later date that's yet to be confirmed.

    FA Cup latest

Manchester City are the bookies' favourites to win the FA Cup despite receiving arguably the toughest quarter-final draw.

Pep Guardiola's men will go to Southampton in their hunt for a Treble.

And Quadruple-hunting Liverpool face a visit to the winners of the final fifth-round tie.

Nottingham Forest, who have already beaten Arsenal and Leicester this season, host Championship rivals Huddersfield Town on Monday night.

Everton chief Frank Lampard saluted two-goal Salomon Rondon for the way he came out of the cold to sink National Leaguers Boreham Wood.

Lampard said: "You have to keep sharp and he's done that every day in training. In that sense, he's been an ideal squad member with his attitude.

"When he comes in, and he comes in today, he contributes and he gives us something different.

"He's a different style of striker for us. A good, physical presence in the box and we need that. We need that for the squad ongoing."

These are typical odds for winning the tournament: Man City 9/5, Liverpool 11/4, Chelsea 9/2, Everton 27/2.

    FULL QUARTER-FINAL DRAW:

Crystal Palace v Everton or Boreham Wood

Nottingham Forest or Huddersfield Town v Liverpool

    Middlesbrough v Chelsea

    Southampton v Manchester City

    Lampard explains Mykolenko withdrawal

Everton manager Frank Lampard has revealed that he substituted Vitalii Mykolenko as a precaution in last night's FA Cup win over non-league Boreham Wood.

Ukrainian Mykolenko was named as the Toffees captain for the night in a show of solidarity with the player over Russia's invasion of his home country.

However, the defender was substituted for Seamus Coleman on the hour mark, having picked up a knock.

Lampard explained that the issue wasn't serious, but the club didn't want to take any risks: "It's a dead leg. It's high-up so hopefully not too bad."

    Eagles linked to Sanson

FA Cup quarter-finalists Crystal Palace are tipped to join a summer fight for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson.

Lille and Rennes are also reportedly interested in a loan swoop as the Frenchman has struggled since arriving from Marseille.

    Forest host final tie

Seven of the eight matches in this year's fifth round have now been played, and the final one now takes on extra significance following last night's draw.

Nottingham Forest host Huddersfield Town on Monday evening for the right to host Liverpool in the quarter-finals.

The prospect will have supporters of the two Championship clubs excited, but first they have to negotiate league action this evening.

Forest have already claimed two Premier League scalps in the competition this season, having beaten Arsenal and Leicester at the City Ground.

The Terriers have also knocked out a top-flight side, winning 2-1 at Burnley in the third round, and they are also the form team in England. It's now 17 games in all competitions since the West Yorkshire club last tasted defeat.

    Wood have settled for that

Boreham Wood have returned to the small matter of trying to win a Football League spot after Everton ended their FA Cup heroics.

Rock-solid Wood didn't let a goal in throughout the competition until Salomon Rondon's second-half double sank them in the fifth round at Goodison Park last night.

And the National League high-fliers were even without two of their first-choice centre-backs.

Apart from promotion, Wood's other target might be to increase their fan base.

Their 2,000 following at Goodison compares to their average home crowd of 949, with only bottom club Dover lower on 916.

    Premier pair dreaming of glory

Crystal Palace will host Everton in the FA Cup quarter-final later this month, and both clubs have already begun dreaming of a date with Wembley.

The two top-flight clubs managed to avoid the remaining members of the so-called Big Six - Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City - and will now fancy their chances of going all the way in the competition.

Palace have twice reached the FA Cup Final in their history, but eventually lost out to Manchester United on both occasions despite taking the lead.

The Eagles were beaten 2-1 by United in extra-time back in 2016 when Jesse Lingard scored the winner, and they also lost the 1990 final in a replay following a 3-3 classic in the first game.

The Toffees, meanwhile, have lifted the FA Cup on five occasions, although not since 1995. Paul Rideout was the matchwinner then when Manchester United were again the opponents.

    Boro targeting third cup scalp

Middlesbrough are preparing for their FA Cup quarter-final with Chelsea, and believe they can take down a third member of the Premier League's big six.

Boro have already eliminated Manchester United and Tottenham in this season's competition, as well as League Two Mansfield in the third round.

Chris Wilder's Boro were handed the home tie with the European champions in last night's draw by former boss Gareth Southgate.

Chelsea beat Middlesbrough in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley in 1997, winning 2-0 thanks for a first minute goal from Roberto Di Matteo and a late effort from Eddie Newton.

    Good morning FA Cup fans

The draw for the FA Cup quarter-finals took place last night.

And it served up some tasty ties, which will all take place later this month.

England manager Gareth Southgate drew the balls from the pot Wembley.

And he saw former club Middlesbrough secure a huge match against last year's beaten finalists Chelsea.

Boro have already seen off Man Utd and Spurs this term, and will be hoping for a hat-trick with victory over the Blues.

Meanwhile, Liverpool face a trip to either Nottingham Forest or Huddersfield, who play each other on Monday.

Crystal Palace will host Everton after the Toffees saw off Boreham Wood on Thursday.

And Manchester City travel to high-flying Southampton.

The ties will be played on the weekend of 19-20 March.

And the winners will secure their place in the FA Cup semi-finals, sealing a magical trip to Wembley for their fans.

    Boro hoping to beat Blues

Middlesbrough face a tough task against Chelsea.

That's because the Blues have won the EIGHT meetings between the two sides.

The last time Boro beat Chelsea was in 2006.

And the match is also a repeat of the iconic 1997 final, which saw the Londoners emerged victorious.

    FT - Everton 2 Boreham Wood 0

Crystal Palace will play Everton in the FA Cup quarters after the Toffees beat Boreham Wood 2-0.

Salomon Rondon scored both goals in Thursday's 5th round tie as the minnows failed to provide an upset.

    Up for the FA Cup

Chelsea are on the hunt for their NINTH FA Cup.

Liverpool are hoping for Cup number eight.

And City need one more for seven.

    Who are FA Cup holders?

Leicester City are the current FA Cup champions after beating Chelsea in last year's final.

Youri Tieleman's 63rd minute rocket secured a famous 1-0 win for the Foxes at Wembley.

But Leicester crashed out this season in the fourth round to Nottingham Forest, losing 4-1 to the Championship outfit.

    Do quarters have extra time?

All FA Cup quarter-final matches will have 30 minutes of extra time if it is a draw after 90 minutes.

There will then be penalties if neither side finds a breakthrough in ET.

FA Cup quarter-final replays were scrapped entirely from 2016.

    Eyes on the cash prize

Victors in the quarter-final will receive a cash prize of £360,000.

That's miles ahead of the paltry £100k Liverpool got for beating Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.

  • Anthony Chapman

    When will quarters be played?

All four games will be played later this month.

They will take place on the weekend of Friday 18 March to Monday 21 March.

After that, it will be a trip to Wembley for the four sides in the semis.

    Taking nothing for granted

Everton had time to tweet their quarter-final draw news before they kicked off against Boreham Wood.

And they pointed out they will only visit Crystal Palace IF they beat the National League side.

Goodison fans seemed happy enough - although some noted that 'big three' Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea had again been kept apart.

  • Ian Tuckey

    'Lucky' Liverpool and Man City?

Fans of the Prem top two have been swapping jibes about 'easy draws' after tonight's FA Cup quarter-final line-up was unveiled.

    Yet both were drawn away.

Liverpool face in-form Nottingham Forest or the Midlanders' high-flying Championship rivals Huddersfield.

And City visit Prem rivals Southampton.

  • Ian Tuckey

Can Wood move from Park to Palace?

Boreham Wood have kicked off at Everton in their bid to become only the second non-League team in the modern era to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.

And if Wood triumph at Goodison Park then the National Leaguers will travel to another top-flight side in Crystal Palace in the last eight.
